BMW E46 Fanatics Forum Since 2001 A forum community dedicated to BMW E46, E90, and F30 owners and enthusiasts. Come join the discussion about M performance, turbo kits, engine swaps, builds, modifications, classifieds, troubleshooting, maintenance, and more! The Spec E46 rules were created to keep the cost of the build relatively low, while also keeping the competition close. This means the engine doesn’t receive much work except for a good cleaning and replacement parts which help it survive running on the track. The most common replacements are made to the spark plug, head gaskets, and exhaust.

So I've seen on other forums that they all have DIY threads for mods and fixes etc that are usually car specific. Like for example: 'Cheap or free mods for E46 M3'
I was thinking of starting something similar here.
It will only be DIY Posts, with pictures if possible, useful DIY links for the E46 and things like that.
This will be the format:

You guys keen?I'll Start.
Mod: Extra lighter socket for cellphone.
Cost: I paid about R20 for the socket from builders warehouse
Difficulty: Easy
Shopping list:
Socket for lighter.
Cable
Basically, I added another power socket and placed it under the center console. I plugged in my car charger and ran only the cable through. This eliminates a bulky car charger in the ashtray and you can keep it closed Sorry that the pics arent so clear, took them with my phone.
So here is the socket kit I bought. I cut it up, so there was only the socket and cable.
I opened up my dash and ran power from the orig. lighter power
The wires:
Then I ran the power wire under the center console to the back by the arm rest.
I then attahced the car charger and taped it up so it wouldnt come loose.
Then hide the wires in the compartment below
The finished Product:
Neat and tucked away [/b]
